About FirmLedger
FirmLedger is a public web application for discovering, verifying and managing business records. It collects information from open sources, standardizes it into one canonical profile per business, and shows where every fact came from. The directory is free to read publicly, and free accounts can submit listings and claim ownership through domain verification. FirmLedger Pro unlocks viewing full details across all listings and premium features like verified ticks, featured placement eligibility, analytics and API access.
The platform ingests data from six open sources only: Wikipedia, Wikidata, the business's own homepage, DNS records, a public news index, and public submissions. Every record is normalized into a consistent schema, deduplicated through entity resolution, and scored with confidence weighting plus manual review. Owners can claim profiles by proving domain control through DNS TXT records, HTML meta tags, or a FirmLedger badge.
The service uses three verification ticks to show record status: green (free plan with verified ownership), gold (Pro without verified ownership), and blue (Pro with verified ownership). All sources are public and re-checkable, and corrections are handled through a public removal and request channel.
